In WW2 media it’s common to see German Shepherds used to depict war dogs, when in reality approx. 75% of dogs used in combat during WW2 were in fact Dobermans, with German Shepherds making up the other 25%. Their sleek build, pointed ears, and alert stance give them an iconic look that has carried over into popular culture, where the Doberman’s intimidating appearance symbolizes toughness or fearlessness, while their versatility and obedience make them excellent service dogs in military, law enforcement and SAR(Search And Rescue)roles.
